Welcome to The Sound Space

A quiet space for reflection, expression, and emotional connection.

I’m a qualified therapist offering individual therapy, music therapy, and clinical supervision through a thoughtful and relational approach. At The Sound Space, I provide a calm, non-judgemental environment where adults, young people, and practitioners can feel heard, supported, and gently guided in their process.

Whether you're seeking support for emotional challenges, interested in the creative depth of music therapy, or looking for reflective and grounded supervision, this is a place where sound, silence, and conversation all hold value.

Therapy here is not about fixing — it’s about listening, attuning, and making space for what matters.

Individual Therapy

  • My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, which focuses on exploring the unconscious patterns and early experiences that shape current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This method helps individuals gain deeper self-awareness and understanding, enabling them to address a wide range of challenges such as anxiety, trauma, loss, low self-esteem, stress, relationship issues, and neurodiversity. By uncovering underlying causes, clients can develop meaningful insights and work towards lasting personal growth and emotional resilience.

Music Therapy

  • Music Therapy is a form of psychological support provided by HCPC-registered therapists within the Allied Health Professions. It uses live, spontaneous music-making — often through improvisation — to explore emotions, build communication, and support personal growth.

Through shared musical interaction, a trusting therapeutic relationship naturally develops, forming the foundation for emotional expression and healing. In these sessions, children and young people are encouraged to use sound and music as their voice, helping them to connect, express themselves, and feel understood — especially those who are non-verbal or find it difficult to put feelings into words.

Supervision

  • I offer clinical supervision for Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), and therapists undertaking postgraduate training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Parenting (PT), and Systemic Family Practice (SFP).

With specialist training in supervision, I provide a supportive and reflective space where practitioners can explore complex cases, enhance their clinical skills, and maintain high standards of care. My approach is grounded in promoting both professional development and the wellbeing of children and young people, helping supervisees to feel confident, competent, and connected in their work.

The Person Behind the Practice

Emmanouil Pattakos

Psychotherapist, MA Music Therapy,

HCPC Registered, Member of British Association for Music Therapy

Post Graduate Cert. in CBT Based IAPT Supervision (Kings Collage, University of London)

I’m a qualified psychotherapist and HCPC-registered music therapist, with a background in both clinical and creative therapeutic approaches. My work is rooted in the belief that emotional healing happens through safe connection, thoughtful reflection, and meaningful expression — whether through words, music, or shared presence.

I hold a Master’s degree in Music Therapy and am a registered member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT). In addition to my therapeutic practice, I am trained in providing clinical supervision, having completed a Postgraduate Certificate in CBT-Based IAPT Supervision at King’s College London. I regularly offer supervision to trainee and qualified practitioners working with children, young people, and families.

Originally from Greece, I bring a cross-cultural perspective to my work and welcome diversity in all its forms. I aim to offer a grounded, thoughtful, and compassionate therapeutic space — where your experience can be met with care, curiosity, and respect.

"Working with Emmanouil has been a grounding experience. From the very first session, I felt truly heard and seen — without pressure to ‘fix’ anything quickly. His calm, thoughtful approach helped me explore difficult emotions at my own pace, and I’ve come away with more clarity and self-compassion than I thought possible. Therapy became a safe space I actually looked forward to each week."
Andrew, 32.”

"Music therapy gave my child a way to express emotions that words couldn’t reach. Emmanouil created such a safe and responsive space — my son felt truly heard and understood without pressure to talk. Over time, I noticed real shifts in his confidence and ability to manage big feelings. It’s been a gentle, powerful process, and I’m so grateful we found this kind of support."
